The EML file format is specifically used for storing electronic mails and data. The EML format is mainly used by Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail email client applications. Both the email client applications are bundled with various operating system versions of Outlook. Although the application is of free of cost but it performs only limited emailing function like sending and receiving of emails. For more advance business features user has to switch from Windows Live Mail to Outlook as there are many reasons that prompts user for the migration.

Live Mail is the successor of Windows Mail that was released with
Windows Vista. Though Windows Live Mail holds all the features of its
predecessor but also adds the following fresh utilities:
- it can get synchronized with Windows Live contacts.
- Introduce the use of Emoticons in the emails
- feature of in-line spell checking
- It supports web based email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.
- It enable user to send pictures in emails by using Photo email feature. Also it can edit photographs at the basic level.
