Most of the
big organizations are incorporated with the use of Microsoft Exchange Server
because of the secure way of getting business emails, high availability, and
disaster recovery. But sometimes, Exchange Server may generate some unexpected
error.
Suppose, if
your organization has an offline address list generation server that is running
Exchange 2007 or 2010, you may face the following issues:
Scenario 1: When you
try to synchronize the offline address list in Microsoft office Outlook 2003 or
in Outlook 2007 with cache mode enabled, you may receive the following error
message in the Sync Issues folder:
‘Microsoft Exchange offline address book
Not downloading Offline address book files. A
server (URL) could not be located.

Scenario 2: When you
try to synchronize the offline address list in MS Office Outlook 2007 or in
Outlook 2003 with cache mode disabled. You may receive the following error
message:
Task reported error (0x8004010F): ‘The operation
failed. An object cannot be found.’
Reasons of the error occurrence: Some of the most common reason why Outlook client receive such type of
error are as follows:
- This type of error occurs when Outlook client is configured to use proxy settings and Windows Internet Explorer is used.
- When OAB (Offline Address Book) version 2, OAB version 3, or OAB version 4 system folder is missing from the public folder store.
- Also, when all Address Lists or All Global Address Lists containers contain sub-containers instead of just address list objects.
- And when offline address list was deleted and again recreated with the same name.
Method 1:
- Start Internet Explorer, click Tools and then click Internet Options.
- On the Connections tab, click LAN settings.
- Select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box and then click Advanced.
- Type the FQDN of the Exchange 2007 CAS server, and then click OK.
- Finally, restart Outlook.
- In Outlook 2010 click File-> Account Settings.
- Click Change Folder.
- Click New Outlook Data File (For temporary purpose).
- Assign it a name (e.g. ‘Test’).
- Click the + to the left of the folder name to expand the subfolders. Click Inbox. Click OK.
- Then Click Change Folder.
- Click Select the one you want.
- Click the + to the left of the folder name to expand the subfolders. Click Inbox. Click Ok.
- Close Account Settings and Click Send/Receive.
