Mbox is simply a mailbox file storing email messages in a text file. Mbox file is commonly used by numerous applications, yet many users are not aware of these. Below given are some applications that use Mbox files to store email data:

Well, these email clients are used by a good number of users, but do not offer the same experience as today's well-known application, MS Outlook. Or it may also be a case that a user has been working on any of these applications and the organization he's working for has decided to deploy Outlook.
These and many other reasons necessitate a switch from the current application to MS Outlook, which means converting Mbox file to Outlook data file (PST) is necessary.
Today, the two email clients, Thunderbird and MS Outlook 2007 are widely used; therefore, the post will discuss the aforementioned matter for these two programs. Keep reading.
Note that in order to convert Thunderbird Mbox file to PST, you need an external tool that has to be downloaded from a trusted website. Perform the below given steps:
- Navigate to a website that offers a trusted Thunderbird email conversion application.
- Click 'Download' to save the installation file on your system.
- Double-click the file that you saved to run it.
- Click an appropriate option, such as 'Select Thunderbird file', and locate the folder that contains the Mbox file that you want to convert.
- Click the file and click 'OK' or 'Open'.
- Click to select the box associated with PST file and click 'Convert'.
The process will import all the Mbox data to MS Outlook PST file.
Now is the turn to import the PST into MS Outlook 2007 that can be done as follows:
- Start MS Outlook 2007.
- Go to the menu and click on 'File'.
- Click 'Import and Export', it will start the Import and Export Wizard.
- Click on the option 'Import from another program or file', and then click on 'Next' button.
- Click 'Personal Folders File (.pst)' and click on 'Next'.
- Click 'Browse' and locate the PST file that you created in the previous process.
- Click 'Next'.
- Click 'Finish'.
Your PST file is now imported into MS Outlook 2007.
However, if you do not find the entire process feasible to perform manually, choose a commercial Mbox to PST Converter application.
